Sprint is currently in the process of updating the NYC towers to network vision. NYC has A LOT of towers and it takes longer to update them (base station hardware and panels). The smaller towns in this announcement are quicker to deploy so therefore they get announced first. Some of the LTE updates in this notice are in Sprint affiliated markets and not Sprint directly. Most of the LTE in NYC is currently in the Bronx and near Morningside Heights. There's only one tower in mid town that's 4G right now. All other updates are currently 3G enhancements.
