Nice of AT&T to be watching out for the US consumer that way. By golly, they are such a consumer oriented bunch of guys there trying to make sure OUR spectrum is not controlled by a foreign power.

Of course AT&T misses the point. No company controls spectrum in the US, companies buy the rights to use it eitrher directly from the government is an auction or on the secondary market. Control of it is ultimately in the hands of the people as expressed by through the FCC. It can be made worthless or taken away if necessary. Anyone who doubts this need only try to tune their FM radio to 45 MHz, the original US FM band, to receive a station.

A merger and investment are two different things bruv. Where ATT would be absorbing the Tmobile entity Sprint just needs capital to complete its upgrades on the network. I hope it goes through Sprint has such great ideas coming our way.

AT&T missed the point again, by saying that Softbank a Japanese company, would own too much of US Spectrum, but forgot that T-Mobile is ALSO foreign owned by a German company and they own a ton of spectrum too. So how is this different.

Lets take it one more step further however, and make it known that Sprint has stated openly, like T-Mobile USA that it will continue be HEADQUARTERED in the USA and OPERATED by Americans. The foreign owners are just the pocketbook.

AT&T is just butthurt that they bought WCS spectrum, in a smaller quantity than the 2.5Ghz Clearwire spectrum that will require nearly the same amount of investment for deployment for their LTE network, and will stop at nothing to piss off Sprint. This is crazy talk on AT&T'...

I believe, AT&T is scared. If the deal goes through, then softbank will also gain access to Clear Wire and no doubt will deploy LTE Advanced in the USA.

That's the plan to deploy LTE Advanced in 2014 one way or another as per Sprint's Network Road Map.
