76 complaints per million customers?!?

That seems impossible if you ask me, and I like Verizon... I wonder if this was rigged.

I'm in shock at just how low that is...

I'm surprised it's that low, with the BT issues...

these are only complaints registered with the FCC. These numbers do not include customers who complain to the company they are with. And on the BT note, only a small percentage of people use it. I know alot of people that have it and have never even used it, or care to. I agree to an extent with rambofone, its only a handful of people that bitch about it. Come on now, the 710 has an transflash SD slot whic allows you to put your own pics/mp3's/etc. on and off the phone. If verizon really wanted every last penny in your wallet, they would have done something to the SD slot! But back on track, I believe the low numbers (for verizon) and the high numbers (for cingular/att). However, if you really want to go with total complaints, you ne...

I agree...about 99% of the customer complaints I have is because of ignorance and stupidity. I had a guy last week that said he will be cancelling his service because his Sony Ericsson z500a continuously shows a "new message" alert, even though he doesn't have a message. It's a bug, I told him it would go away eventually, but it was not worth me exchanging the phone.

It's not jsut customers though, it's people in general, for example, I'm complaining about people complaining.... go figure.

Oh...I assumed that the only complaints that would be valid would be from current customers against the company.

I couldn't agree with you more! I complain when I get tomatoes on my hamburger yet I get pissed off when a customer comes into my store telling me that they want a credit for all their downloaded material because "they didn't know they were gonna get charged" We are all a bunch of whiners. I pitty us 😕

I have a lady that calls in 4 times a day, just to complain, but not about wireless serv, mostly her health, doctors, her children, etc etc, she starts of checking min usage but then just rambles, she had me on phone for 18min to check min, while letting her vent (and believe she is lonely) checked notes, she has calle din every day since she started serv minimum of 4 times a day, 1800+notes for almost 5 months of serv

Maybe not rigged...but people, including the employees of the Consumer's Union, have their opinions and preferences. You want to know what this survey means to me? Absolute crap, that's what.

The thing about this is, while to us, it may be crap, customers will look at this. My mother called me up yesterday and said that she had seen a report about it on CNN, and they did emphasize that Cingular had the most complaints. Personally, I would see where Cingular would have more complaints - they DO have more customers... - Cingular also had a lot of complaints because of the acquisition of ATTWS.

More complaints per million, so its based off of a percentage.... say it with me P E R C E N T A G E... the % thingy you know if i own small company and have 100 cust but if half (that would be %50) complain that would be alot higher then Cingulars %5 = some odd million cust, so just by having more cust does not justify why Cinglar has a high complaint % (percentage) but the fact they did just merge 2 companies togethor and had hired a whole bunch of temp rep's who didn't know what they were doing has a LARGE part to do with it Im sure

I'm not saying that more customers is the entire reason for Cingular being number 1 in complaints. I'm just saying that it is a BIG factor, and I agree that customer reps are another factor.

i know how but never would, doesnt acomplish anything, if you need to complain/dispute anyhting, and Genral Cust Care does not have the authority to go outside of the policy, try Cust relations, still nothing might not happen, but better chance then going to FCC

😳 Is anyone who actually works in customer care surprised? With dealers selling phones to customers and telling them they will work ANYWHERE? With the fountain of misinformation that comes out of SBC just so their reps can get a commision even if the customer returns the phone? With the promised "All Over Network" which as we that work here know is complete BS. No I for one am not surprised. Why is it taking so long to intergrate the AT&T & CINGULAR towers I think the merger was done halfassed just so the big wigs could make a quick profit. Which apparently has worked.

the numbers shown are number of complaints PER MILLION SUBSCRIBERS. Not just total number of complaints. So yes, Cingular/AT&T did do much worse

Right. CU reporting FCC numbers and putting a spin on it for the general populace's enlightenment. I love how the blurbs never mention that ATTWS contributed to quite a few of these problems.

That would be a good breakdown, how many Cingular and how many ATTWS. Maybe now that it is all under Cingular management it will become a moot point. But then again very few have asked that question in this forum. It has been shoot the messenger and circle the Cingular wagons which tells me they are not too interested in learning the truth and then making the necessary changes.

how many poepel take time and effort to complain to FCC, I had problem w/ SPrint they didnt resolve it , talked w/ SUp, they didn't resolve it, did I complain to anybody else (besides these forums) no, but im I going to cancel as soon as contract is up and not trust another word they say, most definatly. My point is that most people are lazy (my self included) and apathetic, so the really really pissed of people w/ $1000+ bills and people who were charged 2 ETF's (one from serv provider and the other from Indirect dealer) are the one so mad they will take the effort to jump through hoops, and solve the rubix Cube to complain to FCC
