Is ATT becoming the new Nextel?

As a long-time Nextel user, with almost zero PTT love coming from Sprint these days, it occurs to me that ATT is more serious about the PTT business than is Sprint. Makes me wonder if ATT might yet end up carrying the PTT torch when Nextel iDEN is killed off this summer.

PTT at Sprint seems moribund now—haven't seen any new PTT phones for months, and almost all of the postings regarding Sprint's new SDC (Sprint Direct Connect on CDMA) are negative postings, with new SDC customers complaining about the poor PTT service provided by SDC and wishing they could go back to Nextel on the iDEN network.

I've been a multi-line Nextel customer for over ten years now, and so far the only reach-out I've received from Sprint was a cold call from a ...
