Not just that - I've noticed that HTC phones are usually priced pretty damn high at launch, no matter the device type really. The HTC One S was almost $600 retail when T-Mobile launched it.

Whether launch or 3+ months after launch retail price doesn't change much, right?

Cause I'm waiting for the Samsung Stratosphere 2 to come out, and pay retail for that in order to keep my unlimited LTE data.

Part of that is probably because of the Beats technology it will come with. HTC doesn't own that so, they have to adjust pricing to compensate for that, as well. They don't have the financial resources that Nokia has, at the moment. This is without MS's help. With MS's backing, they can afford to do this a little bit more than Samsung or HTC.

While I'm glad to see Samsung and HTC get serious about WP, they will never get the kind of backing Nokia gets from MS, solely because of Nokia's sacrifice to go all in. No other OEM has and most likely won't do that, at this point.
