Model Number Confusion

It seems that in most cases you can tell what brand a phone is just by looking at the model number, or even just the first letter in most cases (i.e. T=Sony Ericsson, V=Motorola, No Letter=Nokia, E=Samsung, etc.) but this model number is a little deceptive. If someone told me they were getting the new E725, I would be expecting a Samsung GSM flip. Maybe they should have picked a different letter, like B or Q. Just a thought...

if only the manufacturers would use some, ANY, logic to assign model numbers to their phones. it's something people in the industry can often be heard complaining about. different manufacturers will sometimes give phones similar or even the same model number as another manufacturer. even more confusing, they will violate their own naming or numbering scheme (or what we thought was their numbering scheme) for no apparent reason. i often feel it would be easier if companies just shelved their own system and started over with something more logical.

Nothing new. Motorola uses V, A, E, and C.

V is usually for their fashion phones (V600, V635, V710).

E is for their entertainment/multimedia phones (E398, E680, E815).

A is for thir former Accompli line which are more business oriented (A780, A768, A388c).

And C is usually for the low end candy bar phones (C155, C380, C115).

They used to use T for their talkabout series, but I think they dropped that.
