😳

Is this the much-vaunted, highly-anticipated iTunes phone? Supposedly it was due soon, with a last-minute disappearing act at CeBIT.

Hmmm...

No, CDMA phones won't support iTunes. The "iTunes" phone doesn't exist. Moto phones will have an iTunes application on them, so there will be many iTunes enabled phones shortly.

Why won't CDMA phones support iTunes? State your source. I think that CDMA will support iTunes. Apple powers Sprints MultiMedia software and channels so why not support iTunes?

The iTunes phone will be GSM, i THINK it will be the E399 (i'm recalling that from memory so i'm not 100% sure on that model #). There is not doubt however that it will be GSM. The reason iTunes will not be on CDMA is that GSM is used world-wide and as far as I know the US is the only country that still uses CDMA. It is old technology, GSM is where its at now. I know that my user name starts with a CDMA carrier, but when I registered, I had verizon, now i have cingular, best switch i've ever made, hands down. Also, it would be more profitable for Moto and Apple to make the iTunes phone GSM because on the world wide scheme of things, it would be more profitable for both of them, especially if Apple makes a mobile version of iTMS

CDMA is also used in Asian and European Coutries and Canada. It is also not old technology it is simply different. It was invented by Qualcomm where GSM wasn't. If you read an article posted on www.sprintpcsinfo.com it makes references comparing CDMA and GSM and how GSM will eventually change to CDMA. Its a 2-part article. Here is a link to both.

iTunes was first launched in the US so why not make a mobile phone that supports it for both GSM and CDMA.

GSM is NOT going to change to CDMA, it's going to change to WCDMA/UMTS. CDMA and WCDMA are far from being the same thing. It's nice that Sprint posts an article that GSM is going to change to CDMA, but in all reality it's not going to happen. 🙂

I am not trying to start a war between which is better I was simply correcting the poster who said that CDMA was only available in the US when in actually it is available in Asian and European countries aswell as Canada. CDMA is not inferior to GSM but I am also not saying that it is better either. I have a CDMA carrier but I have used GSM and liked many things about them. The article was from SprintPCS Info which is not affiliated with Sprint PCS.

having changed from TMO to VZW..my CDMA experience far as call quality has been better...but I think the GSM carrier had cooler tech and more freedom to customize the phone...I actually thought my Nokia with Symbian OS was a much more useful phone than my current Moto V710...imo..

Verizon will use a Microsoft based music solution, that ultimately is controlled by Verizon called Music on Demand. This solution means Verizon makes money, the iTunes model means Apple makes money. You figure out why Verizon went with the MoD solution.
