Excuse my ignorance here but this move seems odd to me. I know that the talk with Sprint has been mergers with Metro or Leap, but what is the possibility of a US Cellular acquisition? It the spectrum of US Cellular all in the PCS band at 1900 as well?

According to the description of US Cellular on this website, the majority of the CDMA network is Cellular band 850, and it also says they have AWS and 700Mhz spectrum, along with 1900.

Sprint can't acquire Metro, as Metro has already merged with T-Mobile.

They have not merged yet. It was proposed. Anything is possible until it is approved by the FCC and completed

Really? Then why did T-Mobile send me a letter announcing they had merged? Perhaps I read it wrong and it only said the merger had been started...

Sorry, all I was talking about was in the past, I know TMobile and Metro are in the midst of a merger now. Before then there were talks of Sprint acquiriing one of the other PCS prepaid brands like Metro or Leap. My main question was if there were any advantages to acquiring US Cellular. It appears they have spectrum all over the place but anything that adds to 1900 for Sprint will be good I imagine.
