Has anyone had any luck using these smart tags that samsung makes and using them to perform actions. (man would I love to be able to put my phone on my night table to charge and it automatically hits the lights for me...this would be using with wireless light plugs obviously but would be fun if i could get it to work... )

I'm just wondering if anyones used them and what they think of them?

They work great, at least for Android devices. I don't see why they wouldn't work with WP8 though. I use about four of them daily (by the bed, at the entrance to my home, in the car and at work). I don't use Samsung's app for reading them as it was very limited last I tried it. I've heard its gotten much better, but I've still been using NFC Task Launcher to great affect.

As long as the Windows App Store has some sort of similar app to utilize NFC, I highly recommend using them. They're very convenient.

Lets see:
By the bed - wi-fi on, phone to silent, alarm on and set, sound machine on, screen brightness low

By the front door - Wi-fi on, auto-brightness, volume to full

Car (toggle) - GPS on/off, wi-fi off, brightness to full, driving mode on, music on, Google Navigation brought up ready for an address

Work (toggle) - Wi-fi/data on/off, brightness low/auto, and on the 'getting off work' toggle (for break) it sets a 15 minute timer and opens up Flipboard.

Very convenient to just tap a tag rather than going through and resetting all these settings manually every day. Not sure offhand how you would go about controlling wireless lighting, but I'm sure there's a way to do it 🙂
