Of course the accessories are made by a third party, at the behest of Apple, and controlled by strict licensing. Having access to said thousands of accessories is one of the main draws of using an iProduct in the first place.

The solution was stupidly simple - include the $5 adapter with the iPhone 5 (and new iPod Touch and whatever else) rather than expecting all the millions of iPhone users to go out and buy the adapter separately for $30 FREAKING DOLLARS.

It doesn't really affect me, so I don't care /that/ much, but it still seems really spiteful to their customers to have made the transition work the way that they have.
