$450 Mil is not cheap at all... that's a lot! I'm sure they made more in profits, but that still is a LOT of money!

Considering what a hold RIM has on the wireless e-mail market, this is a small price to pay. They now have the green light to whatever they want.

I would rather give up $450 million than possibly lose billions in revenue, contracts and pure profit 😉

It's a one time payment that allows them to do what they've been doing...printing money. They're lucky.

it makes perfect sense. 🙄 They've been making a boat load of money. 450m is probably a drop in the bucket compared to the profit they've already made, plus the potential profits ahead now that there are no legal roadblocks.

RIM was just a patent holding company
that does no R and D-I'm sure they're
laughing all the way to the bank. Leaches! 👿

Patent holding company or no patent holding company, RIM infringed on NTP's patents. But the money RIM has to shell out in the settlement is a very, very lucky thing for the company...so far they've done everything right. Now they're in a position to continue their amazing success.
