From they way I understand the FCC rules, they make sure phone and internet companies allow their customers to use the internet without one site buying for faster speeds, and allows customers to visit legal sites without companies blocking access to them. So it seems like Verizon and MetroPCS wants to limit free speech not allow it to grow.

Yes, that's the gist of it, but even so Verizon and MetroPCS are arguing that the FCC rules as written somehow violate internet users' free speech.

Seriously, the equivalent would be a law saying that the US Postal Service cannot charge more than the cost of a first class stamp for any shipment, no matter bulky or heavy it might be.....it's economic foolishness.

Well I mean, you don't pay the USPS a monthly cost to be able to use their service, or have a contract with them. If you paid the USPS monthly like some kind of subscription, and they offered something like "Unlimited Shipping" for an additional $25 per month, then you should be able to ship whatever you want, whenever you want, regarless of package size, or weight.
If I'm paying for a service, I should be able to use it the way that I want to. I'm the one utilizing it, and the one paying for it.

No, it would be like the law saying you can't say whatever you want in your letter they are delivering. Charging more to deliver one type of content over another type of content is irrational. A packet of data is a packet of data and it really is not my carrier's brief to snoop it, judge it and differentially charge for it. How silly.
