Well, if its an 850/1900 GSM/UMTS/HSDPA phone for the US, it would have to be either Cingular, T-Mobile, or a smaller regional carrier, or used in Canada (yeah right - none of the others have plans for UMTS/HSDPA).
Verizon doesn't sell GSM based anything except a roamer used in Europe, and EV-DO competes against UMTS.
