Great now we can stop seeing all the questions about the RAZR being compatible with VZW service.

By the way...this has Verizon written all over it. And I think they'll need it to redeem them for the v710.

If Nokia or any other manufacturer for that matter would release a well built high end CDMA phone (High end meaning that it contains Bluetooth as well as a good camera and other features) I might consider switching to a CDMA carrier but by then Cingular will have HSDPA nationwide and it wont really matter.

It's not up to Nokia. They have, for example, the 6255i that is a CDMA phone that has plenty of features including Bluetooth. Motorola had the (real) v710. That does us no good if Verizon won't sell them to us, without crippling them.

The FCC should take the next step on number portability and mandate phone portability. Make Verizon activate any compatible phone on their network. Then w...

Also, If you want Phone portability GSM is definately the way to go, Any phone I have ever had has either already been unlocked or I unlocked myself with ease and has been used with either my Cingular sim card, my friend's T-mobile sim card or any other GSM sim card for that matter. Sometimes i'll switch phones with my friends just to carry something different for a while. Phone portability should not be left up to the beaurocrats it should be left up to the service providers. I for the time being choose GSM.

Back to the subject . . . why do you think that Motorola phones 'suck'? Have you had the chance to use any of their European or Hong Kong market phones? ('cause they make some nice phones for those market, esp. for Hong Kong)! I have to admit that I prefer Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and Samsung to them, but I wouldn't say that they suck.

I say they suck because every Motorola product I've ever used (not just phones) have given me endless problems and I cant say much good about them, if anything at all.

And of course they make good phones for Europe and Hong Kong, cause they're not as stupid as most Americans to spend money and crap. Same goes with automobiles, American cars overseas are 10x more than what they are over here, cause they won't buy no cheap sh*t, so naturally they need to make it worth their while.

I always get a good laugh out of it when I have customers who buy a Motorola because it's a 'good American phone.' I just don't have the heart to tell them that it was manufactured in China (or Germany if they're lucky).

Along with every other product we own and use. I wonder if people realize where this will eventually lead?

Why? They are just going to disable the obex like they did with the v710.

Personally, I'll take that Samsung A970 over a CDMA RAZR anyday. I could care less about obex because I hack the bejeezus out of my phones anyway 😁

If you check the article over at mobileburn.com this will most likley go to sprint unless Verizon makes an exception just for this phone. Currently Verizon has very strict guidlines regarding phones having external antennas. Regardless of who takes the phone they will most likley cripple the Bluetooth capabilities because they are greedy bastards.

Verizon can redeem themselves by offering handsets with full Bluetooth profiles.

It could be that they are looking past bluetooth. There are various WIFI applications that are faster than bluetooth and more widely used with outside devices. With EVDO the network operates at either the same speed or faster than bluetooth, making bluetooth a potential bottleneck.
SK telecom (Korea) has bluetooth phones but they are cool to the future uses of bluetooth. They are looking for something better beyond bluetooth.
I believe that Cingular will do the same when they launch HSDPA.
There are better wireless data systems than bluetooth but unfortunately they are not available on wireless phones until late this year. And then they will be available on SK Earthlink, an MVNO on Verizon and Sprint.
