I see all these cool phones and have access to none of them being stuck on verizon.I used to defend verizon but I give up. I have walked into their store only to see the same crap silver flips year after year. I dare anyone to tell me a cool full-feature phone that is coming out on verizon in the next year.

nothing!!!! nothing!!!!

who cares about this stupid razr that might come out in a year and half and still be a hack job. I have been with this stupid company for five damn years back when they called themselves airtouch.
Sorry for the rant. Just cant believe verizon anymore. When I get off work Im going to the Cingular store.

I agree. As a verizon customer, their phones are always crappy or 6-12 months behind Cingular/Sprint. As soon as my contract is up, I'm moving over to Cingular. GSM is the way to go. Way more phones, way more options.

Have fun with cingular...their phones aren't really that much better and their really cool phones (SE 710 and Razr) are both over $400!!! Their service is suspect in way too many areas and customer service is horrible in my opinion...stick with verizon, you wont regret it!!

New VZN phones in next year: moto e815, samsung i830, samsung A800, plus many more!

I don't know about you, but I kinda like the looks of that Samsung A970 coming out. Might not be enough to keep you with VZW. I work for Cingular so come on over 😁

It is glorious, isn't it. For me, a new phone every year is as important as coverage. The one year contract is the genius of T-Mobile. I have never had a phone with any carrier that 1) lasted two whole years and 2) was cool for 2 whole years. I want the new hotness and the new hotness is the a630. It is definitely the Side Kick II of March '05. T-Mobile customers don't feel trapped like Sprint or Verizon customers whose phones break every year and they are forced into buying a new one and signing an extended agreement. T-Mobile at least makes you feel like you are choosing to sign up again and they give you a great incentive every 11 months to sign back up. My customers love it, and everything else makes them cringe.

Oh my god! Let me guess, you want a full featured phone for practically nothing, and the ability to get "the new hotness" every 20 minutes, right? Get real, lets look at some FACTS: 1. Cingular has more subscribers, yes, but the network issues they are working out with trying to incorporate AT&T's TDMA network is slowing them down and frustrating a LOT of customers. 9 times out of 10 phone compatibility is compromised because GSM and TDMA dont work together...so who cares if you have a cool phone if you cant use it? Thats like having a Porsche but no gas. What good is it? Which brings me to my next point... 2. T-mobiles coverage map is a joke. I cant believe they post that map in thier stores. Yeah, its cheaper, but the old saying g...

I have a question for all you Verizon supporters out there: Do they make you drink some punch or hit you in the ass with a paddle during the contract initiation rights? 😕 What's the deal? I'm just saying that a 1 year warrantee and a 1 year contract makes a certain amount of sense. That's all. I know Verizon's coverage is superior (and more expensive) than T-Mobile; I'm not blind for as dumb as you think I am, apparently. A 2 year contract with a 1 year warrantee seems suspect at best.

What does mikesgut know?!!!! 😈 He seems to be one of those "like...oh my god" type of people that you see walkin around Newport beach!! what a tool 🙂 I'm just playin mike. I work with the good ol mikesgut and I gotta tell ya, he speaks the truth, one of the only reasons VZ-dub has returning customers IS the FACT that their phones just do not last. i sold VZW and I used VZW and honestly, not impressed. I'm sorry but I don't wanna pay for the service in areas that only joe-bob clampit needs in the middle of BFE. I need service where there is.... PEOPLE!! not ducks and geese. I deal with Verizon-or-die people all the damn time and it's sad really. To look at them and see that they are totally closed off to the possibility of 1)Saving m...

wh-wh-what?

slowing down nothing. most subscribers are on GSM already, and the network integration has not been a major problem. TDMA has been phased out for a year now.

OBEX = Object Exchange...

And while we're on the subject, yes, I'm frustrated with Verizon in the bluetooth department. However, and this I can only speak for as an individual, but Verizon does not let me down in terms of service. I am able to use my phone where ever I want. My plans are to upgrade to the 815 when it comes out. Does it have crippled bluetooth? Yes, it does, does it bother me? No, I can use a headset and the bluetooth speakerphone with it, and that's what I want. There are ways around everything, I imagine someone will figure out the hacks for it just like they have for every other phone out there.

Many Verizon cameraphones have the ability to extract the pictures with FutureDial's SnapMedia software and the appropriate USB cable. A feature that few Cingular phones have. The V710 has this locked out but other phones don't.

Most Cingular camera phones can transfer the pictures easily, either with or without software/cables.

Mot v220 - mini usb cable & motorola mobile phone tools (MPT)

mot 551, RAZR & MPx220 - OBEX file transfer via bluetooth OR MPT

SE z500 - USB cable sold at store & free software from SE

SE 710 - comes with a USB memory stick reader

Nokia 6620, 6230, 6820 - OBEX file transfer via BT and/or free software from Nokia

I would personally go to Sprint. I think once the Nextel merger goes through and they deploy nationwide EV-DO Rev. A people are going to start looking at Sprint. Not to mention better phones are on the way because of the merger. Bigger relationship with Motorola and this CDMA RAZR has Sprint written all over, Java support mentioned, nothing about BREW although we can probably see them on both carriers. Megapixel camera is a nice upgrade over the GSM version and better keys. Finally a nice bluetooth phone for Sprint.

I work for Cingular, but I think that there are best of both worlds...I loved the Moto v710 (even if it did have bluetooth problems) and the samsung phones are far more superior with Verizon than what they are with Cingular. I believe both companies have there strong points and weak points. You've just gotta decide what's more important to you.

I hit the same point you are at now last year in August- and I paid for two early termination fees to get out after 8 years with VZW. Everything was always "coming next quarter" and then it would be a dud or crippled version of what we read about on PhoneScoop.

I'll take the insignificant hit in coverage to have access to better handsets.

It's been great and I never looked back.

Do it!

More great news for Cingular: You'll see a new GSM RAZR with EDGE, MP Camera, and video, and much before the end of the year. More likely this summer! If you want a RAZR with a full feature set, GSM will get it first.....

People are more practical in the midwest...and far more concerned with status on the east and west coasts.

I live here in the midwest and Im one of the only people with a decent phone. I personally have Cingular, but there are alot of people here who use Alltel. I was the first person that I know of in this area to get a camera phone because Alltel didn't even offer them until early last year in the region Im in, Plus Cingular's coverage here is great, and I get a digital signal where Alltel still uses analog.

People in the Northwest typically get whatever free or nearly free phone the carrier offers. Except in places where Sprint and T-Mobile are strong. Customers using traditional cellular carriers seem less willing to pay for features that we get excited about. Verizon, USCC, Cingular customers are typically using free or almost free phones.
