The number of apps WP has now, is plenty. What it needs are more of the popular apps. If people know that the apps they use most are on WP, they will be more open to try the OS. Every article or blog I've read, indicates that people dont want to leave Android or iPhone, because the apps they use most aren't available. I've never really understood the argument of numbers, when you are only going to use a few. But, that arguably, could be the mentality due to the lack of apps people use most.
What MS need to do is, continue to get businesses and major developers to create apps for the platform. With the release of WP8, today, I see more and more major developers building apps for the ecosystem. Especially, since most of them will most like develop for Windows 8, too.
