Replying to: Differentiation between Phone and Tablet by Tofuchong Oct 26, 2012, 1:15 PM
Unlike cell phones, tablets don't require jail breaking to be used on other carrier, unless you use one that has built in 3G or LTE. Most people tend to buy their tablets unaffiliated with a carrier. So, as you pointed out, VOIP, using an app is usually the way to go and only requires a data connection, whether it's WiFi or carrier data. In contrast, a cell phone, requires carrier specific signals, in order to place a call over their network or use data while out and about, unless you find a WiFi signal.
How convenient would that be to rely on, if your traveling with your phone?
