Well, I think it's a great idea. I have no idea what these other people are worrying about. "Exposing" them to what? Talking on the phone? Another chunk of plastic that makes noise? Oh no!
I wouldn't mind something like this myself. My next "phone" might end up being one of those huge "phablets" for Internet browsing. It would be handy to leave that in a suitcase and do calls and texting on this thing.
