When the T-Mobile merge with Metro goes through, these phones will be totally worthless. Other than Chinese C-SIM phones, can someone tell me how one will put a SIM in a non-SIM phone???
If the capability to use VoLTE and the same implementation is used in the T-Mobile network upgrade, then the phone would be able to function normally where LTE coverage is available and have access to WiFi (maybe a WiFi calling update to bring up to par to T-Mo's WiFi calling?)
I was thinking the same thing about the use of the phone with network integration, though. If I were to spend that much on a phone (laptop/notebook price) I would want to use it for as long as possible. But, I can also gather that the decision to bring this phone to market was made before and the final acquisition agreement was, and they wouldn't want to do anything to damage the business in the current state in the event the merger does not actually go through.
