This is a good move for Sprint. I like that little company for many reasons.

And as for AT&T, screw em. They are only bitter because the FCC, DOJ and God knows who else shot there bit for T-Mobile down. Fuq em.

As a Sprint customer I am glad this is happening. As far as AT&T they just received "FCC Greenlights AT&T's WCS Spectrum Plans " . So in other words they are just fine , that will amplify there LTE networks and is also a counter to what Verizon received with the Cable companies proposal. In all everybody receives a piece of the pie and more competition.

You are so right. AT&T complaining is pretty much them acknowledging that Sprint is on the upswing, and could one day be a serious future competitior....

Sprint is using clearwire spectrum and has since 08. Sprint did at one time own the majority stake in Clear wire, it's just now they have money backing them to actually use the spectrum faster. AT&T is not scare sprint owns the spectrum they are scared Sprint will use and with the money from Softbank Sprint could become a serious competitor to AT&T and that's why AT&T is crying.

Exactly john, how did we forget that Sprint had this spectrum before? How can we forget that they used to have majority ownership in Clearwire? They bought the stock before the deal is even finalized and will own regardless of whether the deal goes through. AT&T just doesn't like Sprint getting money and ability to do something with spectrum that is largely sitting fallow. Don't get me wrong, I support both carriers, got family working in both, guess that means I just hate Verizon and their good business practices...

They first have to start making a profit, which they haven't done in years.....simply losing less money than they were a couple years ago is no longer good enough. Anfd their stock price is going to have to go higher than the single digits. They are nowhere near to becoming a real competitor.

True. I am just hoping that they can survive as an alternative.

Agreed. Sprint has been losing customers like the sinking titanic with people jumping off left and right... hopefully this SoftBank deal can work some magic on the company...

That may have been true from like 2007 to 2010, but I'm pretty sure they've increased subscriber base for a few consecutive quarters now. If you remove Nextel's defections Sprint has been performing pretty well I think, very well on prepaid.

In fairness, Sprint has actually turned the corner on their high churn rate and for the last year, year and a half or so has been gaining customers rather than losing.....if I was a stock holder however, I would be thinking that they aren't gaining new subscribers fast enough, but they are no longer in free fall on the number of customers.

They finally cut Nextel loose. They are on their way.

So do you know the last year that Sprint posted a profit? I'm sure it was before the Nextel acquisition, but I seem to remember reports about Sprint being in trouble for several years before that....
