Swapping EVDO for HSPA+ would be a nightmare, imagine migrating all of Sprint's Customers to HSPA+ phones. I say it's almost impossible considering the billions already invested in their CDMA network just to replace it with another flavor of 3G which is also on its way out. I think we should look at 4G LTE for world compatibility and I think that is the strategy that Softbank will pursue. I can see them shutting down CDMA once LTE and VoLTE are implemented in the next 10 years. GSM and HSPA+ are not spectrum efficient and it would be a lost investment.
