The anti-China paranoia of today
Is remarkably similar to the anti-Japan paranoia of the late 80's and early 90's......remember the outrage when a Japanese company bought the Rockefeller Center? Sadly both candidates are pushing a protectionist line in their campaigns, Romney talking about 'getting tough with China' and Obama talking about 'economic patriotism' (by which he means anti-free trade and protectionism)....all of this posturing is simply code words for xenophobia....and both parties are equally guilty....unfortunately in difficult economic times, blaming the foreigners is always popular, even with the 'tolerant' left....

I completly agree, it's ridiculous. I looked around my house for everything that said made in china on it. Almost eveything I have is. Anything you buy at the dollar store is made in china. Even my plunger was made on china.
