Even if (for some ridiculous reason) carriers did want to make it easy for customers to leave, there is still the fact that the networks run of different frequencies, and they don't run on different frequencies because the networks are trying to be jerks, but also because the FCC assigns them a specific frequency....you're not going to see every network in the country running on the same frequency....
