MetroPCS and Deutsche Telekom Confirm Merger Talks

Re: This Would Be a Bad Move.
Tmobile is GSM based and MetroPCS is CDMA. While both carriers transitioning to LTE would eliminate compatibility issues, the GSM, CDMA legacy would remain for several+years. This would inherently re-live a Sprint/Nextel mess. I doesn't make sense to me. Personally, I don't know what DT is thinking.
True but Metro was planning to move the CDMA customers to VoLTE and sunset the CDMA network anyway. Either way it would be inevitable that the CDMA customers would somehow be affected. I don't think it would be that messy as Sprint/Nextel though and prices would stay competitive IMO. Plus the spectrum matches. Metro has AWS and so does T-Mo. T-Mo wants LTE and Metro already has it.
All they have to do really is just give the CDMA customers a heads up as to when they want to sunset the network. Give them an offer to trade in their existing handset for a comparably priced GSM handset or find another carrier. It's not like were dealing with contract customers here.
