Jolla's 'Sailfish' OS and Device to Launch in November
Do we really need all these different OS's?
If I were making decisions for a large company to run proprietary software to interface with current systems (sound familiar to anyone on a PC basis?), if security were important, I would choose a less prominent platform. Anyone hear about all those awful malware programs on Linux? Malware will target the largest base available, the more options and systems are in use, the harder it is to create a catch-all virus, trojan, or other malware program that will be able to target most users. Blackberry
Windows Mobile
Palm/Web OS
Symbian
iPhone
Android
In the last 3 years, two of those options (Palm/WebOS and Symbian) have been killed off...permanently...and two others (Blackberry and Windows Mobile, now rechristened Windows Phone) are struggling...we are faced with the prospect of an Apple/Google duopoly....which scares the crap out of me, and scares the crap out of carriers who will then be at the mercy of two of the most ruthless companies in business today....

It was that very reason I chose Windows Phone. I didn't like the idea that I only had a choice of Android or iPhone, two years ago. Sadly, the BlackBerry I owned, was frustrating me,with the constant freezing and RIM didn't have any new hardware that appealed to me. It seemed that all their new phones just kept getting smaller.
Can't wait to get my hands on a new WP8 but, I do want to see BlackBerry get its nitch back, too. As for Sailfish, if it's based on Meego, they should have no problem with building a fan base.
