As a taxpayer, I am tired of this bickering between these two. OF COURSE there are going to be similarities in the basic function of these devices...

Why can't this be settled reasonably? Please tell me that whoever the loser is has to pay ALL court cost INSTEAD of the taxpayer footing the bill.

I understand that there needs to be a certain level of protection for trade and proprietary design but why cant this be settled diplomatically and expeditiously?

eh.. we are to a certain extent (correct me if im wrong). but, my taxes pay the judges salary, courthouse building and maintenance, etc, etc, .. so we are but i do agree that if not only to give the average customer a better experience. i think a judge needs to come up with a resolution of this. its to the point where companies come up with a bs claim so that it keeps the competitors product off selves which is worth the fees the pay to file the suits in the first place..
