Apple CEO: We 'Fell Short' On Maps
Let's get this straight...
Let's get this straight: So Apple feels the need to be in a pissing match with Google SO URGENTLY that they put out that POS mapping app when they still have time left on their contract with Google (during which they could develop and test their mapping app).
This wouldn't be such a big thing if this was something new, but they're replacing an excellent working product with something that's beta software at best, and it's their customers who are getting the dirty end of the stick.
I don't think this would have happened on Jobs' watch. While by many accounts the guy was an ass, he did understand that customers are the reason for the business, and to treat them right.

Well...honestly...there were many foul ups on Jobs' watch, it's just that he had the mighty Reality Distortion Field so they tended not to be noticed as much...
There was the class action lawsuit on scratched iPod Nanos...

Not to mention the infamous iPhone 4 antenna controversy...
It is just that Steve Jobs had a way of using the Jedi Mind Trick to make consumers and journalists forget about these things..

as more details start coming out, Apple wanted turn by turn and didn't want to be left behind without having that as a feature again, but Google wanted more access to iOS than what Apple wanted so Apple declined and went to use the current mapping system that is in iOS now.
Google maps was great and all, but it was missing a lot of key eatures that people have been clamoring Apple for years about. I have no doubt that the new maps will get better. Do I wish Google Maps stayed, yeah. Do I want more features than what the Google Maps offered pre iOS6? Yeah. Was it a bad choice to create their own maps application to provide more features than the previous offering? No, but poor timing. Use that final year to trial and error the new maps ap...
