I would assume you'd be able to see some type of GUI interface on the phone's screen. And, of course, I could be completely inserting foot in mouth.

I'm not Rich but here's a Register article that explains it.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/01/26/nokia_introd ... »

"With Visual Radio the listener will not just receive the FM sound signal, but also images and text on the LCD handset display screen. If a radio station is playing a number by Finnish band The Rasmus, then up on screen there might be an image of the band's singer Lauri Ylönen, and the name of the song or its current chart listing."

It sounds like an excellent way to drain your batteries faster.

thanks draveed, i didn't see this question until now. yes, visual radio is fm signal + additional on screen data downloaded over a data network. it is meant to help fm stations compete with digital satellite over here or DAB in europe and asia, both of which offer track / station information in addition to the audio. it was co-created by nokia and hp and is already available in parts of europe. it is possible it will also launch here in the states.
