The carriers need time to do "research and ad their own apps" or in some cases remove features or limit the phones capabilities.

And in the meantime my Galaxy Nexus has been running Jelly Bean since July....oh yeah, that's right I have the unlocked GSM version.... 😎

They can't be /that/ far away. I'm currently running on a leaked OTA ROM for the SGH-T999 GS3. Aside from an occasional display glitch its been perfectly usable. With any luck we'll see official updates rolling out for the US in the following month (though I won't hold my breath)
