for this obviously biased review. The Gs3 has all of this and then some. The note 2 will surpass it as well.. Hell the htc x one does to. Obvious biased review take it down and get someone who uses a blackberry to review it.

Phonescoop is one of the FEW industry sites that is anything but BIAS.

They do not let advertisers or popular opinion sway their reviews or articles.Unlike TechnoBuffalo, Noah the Phone Dog, CNET, and ESPECIALLY MobileBurn.

I like Rich and Eric's work and not the mention the HUGE very usable database the is very useful of archived equipment and articles.

This site exist so that consumers can make an EDUCATED choice 1st and foremost, secondly so people working in the industry can have one stop shopping for up to date industry info before their employer decides to spoon feed it to them. and thirdly (unfortunately) so fan boys can vomit what they think they know all over this blog and feel self important until they are A) shut down b...

That wasn't a glowing review.

It's true that it wasn't glowing, but Phone Scoop is the only place I've seen say anything positive about Apple Maps...

I haven't had a chance to check it yet, but I've heard that Apple Maps is so bad that it places the German city of Berlin in Antarctica... 😲

There is nothing wrong with Apple Maps. It is very accurate. The problem is that the cities and roads are in the wrong places.

That is an absurd statement!!! In some cities half the city map is covered bye large green parks. It seems you APPLE fanboys can't even accept the facts. The CEO of Apple held a press conference and said their maps were messed up.And even said he recommends Iphone users down load and use Google maps!!

We can tell you about our experience. My experience has been similar to Eric's.

There are plenty of anecdotes about bad data. I don't doubt them.

But in a review, it's our job to actually test it, not just report what people are saying elsewhere. It's not our place to jump on any bandwagon. We tested it, and it worked the way we described. You should absolutely listen to what everyone - not just us - says if you want to make an informed decision.

You have to appreciate that Apple is trying to map everything on the whole planet. That's one of the more ambitious projects any company can undertake. If they get 0.01% of the data wrong, that's impressive accuracy, but still a whole lot of bad data. I don't know what the per...

Here's the problem Rich. Apple and its followers have created the illusion of perfection. Apple has gone so far out of the way to remain proprietary, that it is willing to sacrifice its user's wants or needs. While I understand Apple's reasoning to control every aspect, their tight integration worked at low marketshare. However, integral key aspects will suffer more under larger scale usage.

Seriously. What harm would it do for Apple to use Google Maps as the default until they polish their own version? Allowing YouTube? I believe that Apple's vengeance is ...

I guess the main issue here is that in 2012 a 'work in progress' app for something as vital and important as maps and navigation is simply unacceptable....this isn't....say 2002 when GPS navigation was relatively new and you couldn't take it for granted that it was accurate because it wasn't developed yet....today there are plenty of highly accurate mapping applications out there and people rely on it in their day to day lives, and being told that 'it will take us a while to get this right' just isn't good enough any more...

I have no doubts that Apple will improve it very soon. I don't even think "it will take [them] a while". Either way, they probably already have poor poor MapQuest beaten hands-down...

None of my friends or family who got the iOS 6 update, or the new iPhone 5, have reported anything but glowing praises thus far, and the maps situation has not been reflected in any negative comments in our end of the boonies out here in southern PA... to my greatest surprise by far, my brother reported that iOS 6 has improved the performance of his iPhone 3GS over iOS 5. Come to think of it, I haven't actually heard, or seen, Apple drop the ball once yet on this new stuff... none of the neighbors have any complaints either.

That's probably true but....honestly.....Apple people are not exactly known for being willing to acknowledge errors or problems with Apple products or services...

Hahaha... you are so right! I don't hear from hardly anyone out here who doesn't love the iPhone because... well... I live in this happy little Apple-ville where everyone who didn't have an iPhone before seems to now, in the last two years, have acquired an iPhone. It reminds me of that commercial on TV these days... its as if the neighbors come to the door and say, "Are you ready to purchase your new iPhone today? We love ours so much!" My mom and dad and I are seriously this little island of non-iPhone in the midst of a great sea of family, friends, and community that are all Apple converts. It really is rather stifling. There isn't even any sense in fighting it anymore. Thank goodness I'm so poor that I don't have to go and buy one...

ajac09,

I think you maybe coming off a little emotional over this review. I was not surprised at all by his opinion. When it comes to hardware, Apple is above most in design. It's always been this way. All the way back from the beginning through Mac Vs PC, and now today's Apple products, Apple spends a great deal of time and money to detail. I know, I was part of the Apple fan crowd years ago. In regards to the iPhone5, There are noticeable improvements in this iPhone over the old. This phone was highly anticipated and many blog sites have expressed their excitement for it.

My feelings are somewhat different than Eric's. Screen size has gotten very selective for consumers. Small? medium? large? It is an important choice for purchases....

I still don't like it. Strange size, odd shape, OS isn't really up to snuff anymore (by their own review I might add). To me it looks like something LG used to design. Just saying.

The only thing is that some people prefer a mobile phone that is a reasonable size. Personally, I think that the Galaxy phones are cooler, they're just too bloody big and too bloody complicated with all of the customization and shells and widgets and bullshit. The iPhones are a reasonable size, they're fast and they're easy. Thats the only reason I use one.

The hardware might be top notch but why does Apple keep using the 4 body style? They should have gone back to the 3GS it would of been comfortable to hold. I for one do not care about a Maps app its just software and with that it can be changed. Also other options if you do not like it.
