There are two ways that people are looking at the iPhone 5...

There are those who are comparing it only to previous iPhones, and by that standard, excels....

But then are those who are comparing the iPhone 5 to OTHER smartphones on the market....and by that standard, it's a gigantic fail.....all they did was add a bunch of features that have been standard on other platforms for more than a year, while omitting a bunch of other features, like NFC, that literally every other phone has (including the Blackberry 7's!)

Apple's traditional policy is to hold back....NOT add everything they possibly can to devices, but to deliberately withhold important features so that people will have a reason to upgrade to next year's version......s the first iPhone didn't have 3G or support for MMS...and the first generation iPad didn't have a camera.....and Apple only recently added USB 3.0 ports to its Macbook Pro line up despite the fact that they have been standard n top of the line PC's for more than a year.....Apple needs to stop doing this because it is causing them to fall further and further behind....

So sure...if you are a current iPhone user, you'll want to upgrade because this is something better, no doubt......but there is quite literally NOTHING, and I know writing teachers always say 'don't say 'always' don't say 'nothing' don't make absolute statements' but I'm going to do it anyway.....

If someone is using another platform, whether Android or Windows Phone or even Blackberry....the iPhone 5 offers quite literally NOTHING...not one single reason to switch platforms.....not a single one.....there is absolutely nothing that the iPhone 5 offers which cannot already be found on other phones.....

A common joke on the Internet says that 'At Apple, we take upgrading the iPhone seriously, which is why we do it once every 2 or 3 years'.....

That's all too true...and it's not good enough.
