I have to agree on the brand confusion

It's already a pain to sell the iPhone 4 or 4S if someone wants the "iPhone 4g" or "two of the iPhone 4s"... Naming a phone after the OS it's running just seems like a bad idea in general.

According to the name these phones will not be able to run windows 9 when it comes out. That is if Microsoft starts doing a early cycle like everyone else, which is highly doubtful. It seems like Microsoft will start a 2 to 3 year OS cycle.

Or naming a phone after a word that is really similar to the operating system...like Droid.....you have any idea how much people used to ask me about 'the newest Droid phone' when I worked for at&t? And every time I would have to ask 'do you mean you want a phone that runs Android or do you want specifically the Droid, which is a Verizon exclusive?'

I think for the most part, HTC 8x and 8s will be the names that will stick. I doubt most people will call or know it by its full name. Any sales reps sailing this phone, will probably call it by its natural nick name.
