iPhone 4 Now Free, iPhone 3GS Discontinued

until Verizon drops their prices on the 4S? I would rather have a 4S 16gb for $99 than the new Iphone 5 for $199

Is the price actually set by Verizon? I've always thought the price was set by Apple....only because Apple generally doesn't allow any kind of discounts on anything...even their vaunted 'education discount' is pretty paltry....

The price has already been changed in carrier stores and third party retailers, Also Apple doesn't really control the subsidized price that much since RadioShack and Best Buy will usually start selling the new iPhones cheaper than anyone else after a few months, I got my 4S last Christmas at RadioShack for $150.

RadioShack dropped the price of the 16GB 4S across the board (Sprint, AT&T and Verizon) to $99.99 maybe 10 minutes after the price announcement of the 5. The iPhone 4's remained at $49.99 for now for some weird reason. Inventory will probably be constrained so be aware that you may have to wait a day or two for one to be received from another store. 🙂

As of today (13 Sept) 3:05 pm, the Verizon Wireless website is still showing full prices on the Iphone's. No drop yet.
