How Do They "Get Away With It"?

Apple's marketing is like the waiter who stands at the table, never puts your order into the kitchen as to what you want but sits there and teases you with just how GREAT your dinner is going to be.

Apple's delivery on the other hand has all the excitement of Christmas morning until you realize your parents simply took your old toys, re wrapped them, and presented them to you as "NEW".

If the "leaked" videos and the developer specs are accurate, then I feel like a chump for waiting when I could of gone out and purchased a GSIII two months ago! Oh, that's right, Apple is trying to ban the GSIII!

Thank you, Apple for eliminating my choices as a consumer, and investing in costly litigation instead of product development.

How about ...

I've never understood the Cult of Apple either....surely 15,20, 25 years ago part of the appeal of Apple was that very few people used it, so you got to feel like you belonged to a special elite club....but these days, everyone and his brother uses Apple...so that snob appeal is now gone.

My theory is that its not "snob appeal" its marketing.

Apple saturated elementary school computer labs in the 80's and 90's and even today they are giving full classroom sets of iPads to elementary media centers.

It's all about a comfort thing and familiarity. People usually assosiate their 1st exposure to being the best one or at the very least using it as a benchmark for comparison.

Who here actually LIKES McDonald's, (not too many if the truth be told) but from a young age we are inundated with it much like Apple ... My 1st hands on experience was in the computer lab at my elementary school with an Apple IIe with the monochrome screen we played Lemonade Stand. Later we had the IIgs.

Now that we are all the heads of our ow...

As being present and part of this group back then, I can say that I feel it is the opposite. I don't feel we were snobs. Some may have had the prissy attitude, but in reality, most of us used Macs due to how well it managed documents for graphic designers, artists and engineers. In contrast, however,we were not overly excited to have to pay almost twice as much for a product as our counterpart constituents did with MS PCs. Since we paid more, we also were not really big fans of being limited to what w...

Sometimes you get that from Blackberry people too....'I did such and such on my Blackberry'.....and whenever someone owns a Mac they always say 'my Mac', they never say 'my computer'.....it is a lot like certain 'elite' cars you might hear someone say 'my Lambourgini' or 'my Corvette'...but no one will ever say 'my Toyota Camry', they just say 'my car'...

I hate that...which is why, even though I own an iPod Touch, a Macbook Pro and a Blackberry, I never say 'my Blackberry', 'my iPod' or 'my Mac'....it is simply 'my phone, my Mp3 player and my computer'....the only time I mention the brand is if it is actually relevant to the conversation, if I lost my phone I would say specifically 'have you seen my Blackberry?' because after all they w...

---" .I figure I don't get paid to advertise so I'm not going to do it for free..."---

When dealing with peer integration or arrogant personalities, often getting paid is not necessarily a prerequisite to show off the goods. Generally, it is how much they spend to elevate their egos.

I joked the other day with a friend of mine. He bought an iphone4 and he started bragging about how cool it was. He said he felt a little richer. So I naturally added to the conversation. I told him that all he needed now was a Ferrari, Private Jet, Rolex, a Mansion down in New Orleans, oh and money to buy dinner so he didn't have to sponge off his retired parents. He said, I guess did come off a little shallow. I said, not at all dude; its an iPhone. Thin...

When I worked for at&t I used to joke with the customers about the iPhone...I said that 'the best thing about the iPhone is the price...the more money you have, the less expensive it seems'
