Treo 750 Battery Life - The Real Story?

I am a Treo 650 user and am considering an upgrade to the 750. I have read conflicting reports on battery life. I have talked to two 680 users who said their battery life was unacceptable. I am curious if the 750 is really any better? I am receiving a fair amount of email during the day. Thanks for your opinion.

The battery life is unacceptable uless you work at a desk job and can charge the thing during the day. I have never seen a bigger piece of sh@$! Palm/Cingular should get sued in a class action suit for even releasing this thing. It is a great phone..but you cannot use it.

I used the 750 for a week before returning it- I have used most all of te PDA type phones, and this one has so much promise, just to fall so flat on its' face. I set my email to retrieve every hour only during peak hours 8-6. I talk a lot on the phone as well, and use blue tooth- it's a business phone & PDA. I couldn't get through a day without having to recharge it by 3:00. My best guess was 6-7 hours of usable time. I got a replacement 750 and it showed exactly the same thing. Very disappointing.

I not only use the Treo 750 (2 months), but work in the industry selling the device. You might think this is bias, but on these forums, I try not to be, and only speak from experience.

I use the Treo 750 as my Work phone. Several calls throughout the day, emails, text, and Internet usage. Basically heavy usuage. I haven't had ANY battery problems. I charge my phone every 2 days, which is fine with me considering what i do with it.

Most PDA style phones are only going to give you 2 days tops with heavy usuage. But honestly, you are better off charging it every night. Always better to start the day with a full tank of gas.

As someone selling this device/working in the industry I have a couple questions for you; Do you know if Verizon (always late when it comes to updating hardware) will be putting out the 750 or some Palm update anytime soon?...and secondly, have you seen good success syncing the windows-based Palms with Macs, presumably using Missing Sync...? Thanks! On Battery life, I've had my Treo 650 for 2 years and the battery life is fantastic for this type of device. No reason to believe Palm can't continue this success with a newer device unless battery life is effected by WM vs. Palm OS.

Verizon's 700 is similar to the 750. Both Windows based, but Verizon (as with most of its phones) tweaks the operating system a bit to make it similar to all of their phones. As far as I know, they passed on a PALM based device for that reason (palm won't allow them to change anything).

As far as MAC's, I'm getting my first MAC in a week, so I will let you know. But I do recommend Missing Sync to my customers and don't hear any complaints.

The 650 is a great device, it was on the selling shelf the longest of all the PDA's for a reason.

Thanks for the info and thorough reply. Much appreciated. I testing out T-Mobile right now to consider switching, as, unfortunately, VZW has fell down, for me, in certain areas...but if the coverage doesn't cut it I'll continue. Let's face, it needs to work when you need it! Thanks again, most helpful.

No Problem, but you will find that T-Mobile's coverage is slim compared to Verizon and Cingular (the new at&t). The latter being the largest, and right now leader in about every category.

Totally hear what you're saying and I am holding my breath just a bit. As a gadget freak I would go ATT in a heartbeat but I have to negotiate w/the wife who's whole family is with VZW...so my faves is the compromise. I'm hoping it works out because Verizon has pulled a number of things lately that feel very shoddy and disrespectful to a longtime customer. Of course, if the call doesn't go through all that doesn't mean much! Thanks!
