The reason why LTE runs down battery life is because LTE is for data ONLY, there is no voice over LTE....this means that any LTE phone has to run at least two and maybe three cellular radios at once....obviously, the more cellular radios you run, the faster the battery will run down....and no amount of Apple ingenuity can fix that....

Moreover, let's be honest here: 14 hours of battery life on a charge is simply atrocious, indeed I would say anything less than at least 48 hours is atrocious..,,one shouldn't have to constantly be near an electrical outlet to use a mobile phone...the whole 'mobile' part of the 'mobile phone' is rather important...
