Kevlar may be able to stop bullets and shrapnel, but I can tell you that it is not good in every application.

I have a pair of Lind's bowling shoes that has a Kevlar sole and it is labeled as such for the wow factor, I guess.

The sole is certainly not very tough, as within two months, it was getting worn down on the toe and after nine months, while still usable, it is so worn down that the leather upper is beginning to wear.

I'm sure someone at Lind's thought this would be a great idea, but in practice it was just a waste of money, because in a few months I'll have to buy a new pair of bowling shoes and they certainly won't be Lind's.

I highly doubt that Kevlar on a phone will get the wear and tear that my right bowling shoe gets, but the fact is that these applications are more for show than for effect.
