Yeah, that seems to be the way OEM's are going. Not only are large screen phones better feeling for people with larger hands, it also turns out that, people who buy larger screen phones tend to use them more often. This apparently, is what OEM's want.
Actually, I'm glad that they're offering more larger screen phones because, phone screens simply seemed to cater to people with smaller hands, usually women. Surprisingly though, I've noticed more women with extremely large screen phones and it seemed, as you say, "ginorm-o" in their hands. Seems larger screens are just more appealing to people, than OEM's originally thought.

Not to mention Movie Trailers, Netflix, the list does not end. The screen resolution doesnt even matter all that much either. When you are getting into larger screen sizes, (for phones) pretty much any resolution on any screen size above 4" looks great, that is MHO.
If you're going to nit pick, yeah, 480x800 is an old resolution, but it still actuially looks pretty good on a 4" screen.

True but my god the 1280 x 768 pixels with the ClearBlack "PureView Motion technology looks GORGEOUS! I want this phone real bad. I am all about screen resolution and the screen technology. QHD was cute when it first came out, AMOLED was nice step up but now ClearBlack "PureView Motion technology is the way to go for me.

That was an enormous phone!
With an standard 480*800 AMOLED display at 4.5 inches the feel of the phone in your hand was just that. "ginormous"
The big size of the display was mostly the only stand-out feature of this phone, for the rest it was an almost common smart-phone
Now-day's galaxy s III has a bigger screen but the phone itself is thinner, not as wide as the infuse and just a bit taller. Is lighter than the infuse (and definitely a lot lighter than HTC's thunderbolt). But in this case, functionality justifies the size.
The screen itself is impressive, the processor and network capabilities are just plain amazing, has an awesome camera, throw in productivity tools...
