Verizon
If this was on Verizon's network, this would be news. But Cricket's? This will be out of business in a year.

Verizon is very stingy with its network and so is AT&T. Sprint and a lot of regional carriers are more open with their network to help bring in more revenue. Verizon along with AT&T do not open their networks up like Cricket and Sprint do because they do not want to be undercut and have people defect to these cheaper carriers and lose money.

You have heard of Page Plus and Straight Talk. They use Verizon network. I have the Samsung Proclaim on Straight Talk that use Verizon's network. But would love a better smartphone to use on Verizon's network.

Of course another way of saying the same thing is that at&t and Verizon are profitable enough that they don't need to raise extra revenue by re-selling their service under a different name...

Cricket has a network? 😉
Stingy is a rather harsh word for Verison and ATT roaming agreements.
Those two have invested tons of money to create huge naitonwide networks to accomodate their contracted customers.
The have have ongoing costs to maintain those 'towers'.
Every tower has a lease agreement that is paid monthly to the property owner. Even if they do not hold the lease to the tower itself, they pay the lease holder monthly to use the tower for their own xmitters and receivers.
Why in the world would they want to allow companies who do not invest in their network piggy back on their investments?
If one of the 'big' ones needs coverage in an area they use mutual agreements to augment their coverage with a region...
