Apples is Afraid. It Is As Simple As That.

For the first time, there is a company (Samsung) and a line of devices (SGII and SGIII) that actually pose a real threat to Apple's market dominance.

And Apple doesn't know how to deal with this new challenge. So they're trying to elliminate it.

Based on the leaked specs, the upcoming iPhone 5 might not be significantly better than the SGIII in many regards. And Apples is worried.

It is as simple as that.

I like the way you said based on the leaked specs. We all know these specs can change - dramatically - at any time, however when it comes to a device released by apple, do the specs even really matter ? To the people that count, there is only one single spec that matters.

Operating system: iOS.

I won't be buying it, I don't care if it has a 4.5" 4K screen with 200 billion colours, an 8 core 3.5 Ghz processor, or even if the thing can be used as a laser cannon. Nothing they do with their devices even matter anymore! The OPERATING SYSTEM needs to change. They need to make iOS better.

Funny thing about leaked specs for any iPhone, they don't tend to even match up to what actually gets released. They'll never change iOS though, not significantly enough to bring in new customers. To Apple people though, they love iOS just the way it is and wouldn't change it for the world, no matter how many times they pay $600+ for a shiny new box to put it in.

Admittedly if the new iPhone had a legit laser canon I would think about swallowing my pride for one XD

Even I might chance becoming a closet-iPhone owner for a shot at a legit laser cannon...

Actually, I think the only spec that matters to the hard core Apple devotees is the Apple logo....I've long thought it might be a profitable business to start selling Apple logo stickers, let people buy smartphones that are actually good, then they can slap an Apple logo sticker on it and people will think it's an iPhone...surely that would be good enough for a large number of Apple buyers...
