Does LG have enough brand loyalty

to compete in the high-end smartphone market successfully? The specs on this thing are almost ridiculously impressive, but I couldn't see myself buying this over an SIII or One X or even one of Motorola's phones. After the original Optimus I don't think I've seen any of the variants come through personally, and I've never really seen them in the "wild" either.

The LG Optimus Black is really, really popular here in Canada. It's a pretty good phone too, 4" Nova display, 1 Ghz. The Nova display is really the selling point - it can get brighter than the surface of the sun. That is the only good LG device I have ever come across. Most other LG device's ive seen or spoken to people about have lots of problems, and just arent great devices.

I've had the same experience. I wish the best of luck to them, but most people I speak to have a very poor opinion of the brand in general, largely to due the Optimus V/S/T/LMNOP.

Lol, nice. Yeah, same. Most people had an Optimus V or an Optimus T, which are terrible phones. It's really a shame - they can definately make good devices, but it seems like they chose not to for some reason, or chose certain devices to make really, really cheaply.

it feels like a lot of their devices are just quick cash-ins.

Well, I have heard this phone was over a year in the works. So we will have to see but I am curious if they have worked out the bugs with the quad core not working with US LTE. If they have, then we may have a real contender, if not, well I guess we will get another dual core version.

Even if it switches to dual core, the quad-core we have right now aren't really much faster anyways.

I personally have two LG Thrills on my lines, one is about 15 months old now and I have had zero problems.
Never once had to even reset the devices.
One line, prior to that, had an LG encore and it still works like a champ, over 2 years old. I keep it as a back up but haven't had to use it as such.
On the other hand, one line had a Samsung Captivate and it was a piece of trash from day one.

as far as brand loyalty, i have been using lg phones since i was 15 i am 21 now, and granted the quality is not the best in the world, but this is becasue of the fact that anytime a phone company comes out with a new product, apple or some other company wants to sue them because the look of the device is similar to thiers or the tech. is similar or something. now i have the current lg optimus elite, have not had any issues, i also had the optimus v, never had any problems. my wife has the lg thrill, and she has had only 1 problem. (she dropped the phone in water). now for most i hear about for problems with lg, these can be determined by the user themselves, what they use the phone for how much they use the phone etc. if you cannot tell i a...
