AT&T Steps Up Anti-Texting-While-Driving Campaign

Though this is a common sense issue, hopefully by AT&T taking the initiative, people may listen.
I have seen personally horrific results of people texting and driving.
Distracted driving in general is a danger. Texting while driving is practically a no-brainer when it comes to the knowledge that it is direct cause of major traffic accidents and fatalities.
Maybe T-Mobile, Sprint, and VZW can pick up on this campaign as well.

That is genious, and should be law.
Why not? It is illegal to drive while distracted, which is careless driving. It is illegal to drive while intoxicated, drunk driving. It doesnt matter if you are using hands free - you are still distracted, and not focusing on the road.
Watch this to become law within 10 years.

I agree. Unless there is an emergency. I believe calling 911 and whatnot is not blocked of course. The only time I've ever used my phone while driving was to call 911 to report drivers swerving in and out of lanes.

I have called the police as well to report agressive drivers even with plate numbers, and guess what....
99% of the time they won't bother pursuing the issue until a van full of kids with grandma and spot fly off the road, flip over, eject the passengers, and wind up in a tree.
They figure too many people are calling because someone cut them off or they just do not like how someone else is driving.

The last time I called they had a chopper in the sky within minutes. IDK if they ever got the guy because he got off the freeway and I was on my way home.

This should not be a paid for option if it is going to save lives. Not everyone wants a Blackberry or Android smartphone either.

True, but at least it's a start, they are probably developing an app for the iPhone as well as standard phones that aren't smartphones.. You know AT&T will charge for it as well.
