☹️ Damn. Guess that's how manufacturers force the hand if the consumer into an upgrade eventhough the hardware can more than handle it..

It's not about trying to force you to upgrade, it's just not cost efficient to upgrade the phone.....

The fact that OEM's can't really do is exactly why Google needs to take control of the update process...

This coming from a guy that is stuck like a lady in waiting for RIM to Release Blackberry 10, and be a formidable presence in the US Smartphone market once again.

Relevance?

It costs OEM's a lot of money to update the software on a phone, and if a cost/benefit analysis indicates that they won't get a return on that investment then they aren't going to send out the update. This is simply smart business, don't throw money down a black hole.

It is far more cost effiicient for everyone if Google takes care of the software and leaves the hardware to the OEM.

That's what needs to be done.

By the way I upgraded shortly after RIM announced that Blackberry 10 was being delayed.....I'm now using a Blackberry 9860....I'll be eligible for my next upgrade around December of next year and if the Blackberry 10's are out by then that's what I'll get....and if RIM goes belly up and there are no Blackberries left to get I'll get a Windows Phone.
