Sprint Offers Rare iPhone Price Drop
Well this isn't Radio Shack or Target
It's one of the largest wireless carriers in the states. It doesn't matter what other store had going on - It's solely up to that store if they want to further subsidize it and take even more of an initial hit.

I have no idea what Sprints warehoused numbers are, but it may be a shot at moving inventory prior to a new offering by Apple.

That very well could be the case. Take a smaller lose in price cuts and get more stock in customers hands. Once the newer iPhones come out, they may find themselves stuck with older stock and a HUGE lose. They're still in the hole with the huge payout to Apple, from agreeing to sale iPhones and not moving older hardware would only make it worse.

They'll never find themselves "Stuck" with iPhones. Simply put, phones like the Galaxy SIII and Evo LTE make it hard to justify a phone from October of 2011 still being $199.
They're adjusting the price, as it should be.
Sprint is doing MUCH better than it was 1 year ago. They're also paving the road for a much more successful company. I wouldn't be too concerned about the agreement they had with Apple. The iPhone accessory revenue alone, has to be staggering.

And losing more money for doing so, as Apple did not lower their price to Sprint.

Wouldnt really call it a desperation move at all. Its a over priced phone with limited capabilities. Its old news so its time to drop the price. a price drop for this phone should have been done a while ago.
