Doesn't this seem a bit redundant?

So let me see if I get this straight. You use Text Messaging to send audio of yourself to other people. Wouldn't it be just as easy to call the person?

This way, you can tell someone what you're thinking without having to listen to their opinion. That's the only practical application I can come up with.

It seems like they're just looking for ways to make people start using MMS. I seriously doubt that this will become the "killer app".

Exactlee. If i want to hear a person's voice, I'll call them. The whole reason i use Txt messaging to begin is when i can't talk.

I think it's pretty cool. I'd use it. It's certainly easier than typing out messages. Call me lazy, but I like it

If you want the person to hear your voice, just call the person. And like i said, 98% of the time when i'm conversing over txt, it when i can't talk. So, if someone sends me a messaege with a voicemail attached to it (which is what it is) i won't be able to listent to it.

The beauty of SMS is that you can write and read messages silently, like when sitting in a meeting or in a theater.

Besides, think about this: it's been possible to record and send voice messages via Internet email for many years. 10 years ago, Eudora email client had a voicemail plug-in which made it very easy to do just that with a couple of clicks. Yet, it hasn't caught on.

Wasn't this why voice mail was invented?

I think voicemail was invented to give a caller the ability to leave the person they are calling a message if they are unable to take the call.

This is a far cry for wanting to tell someone something and not having to listen to their opinion. When you call someone, you don't know if you're going to get them or their voicemail. So if you're willing to call and take the chance of them picking up, you must not be too worried of having to hear their opinion.

So if you want your buddy to hear the walrus you're watching at Disney's Animal Kingdom...yeah, I get it.

I know that most voicemail systems allow you to send a message directly to someones voicemail without having to make a call. I know Verizon and Cingular have that

T-Mobile does, too, but you have to know what number to dial; it's not advertised in any way.
