Explaination on Verizon Shared Data Plans

I work at a Verizon Retailer. I want to explain a few misunderstandings. A customer can still keep the existing plans of minutes and texts the customer would just loose the unlimited data (if you still have unlimited data) and your total amount for the line is 2 GB instead of unlimited data. These new plans are not for everyone but once again if gives customer options.

so essentially, Verison will take your unlimited data away and force you onto a 2 gb plan, while ATT will allow you to keep your unlimited data.

As I understand, if you want to retain the unl data, you have to pay full retail for the device with Verison.

So, yes there is a major difference between the Verison and ATT shared data plans

That would still leave millions of people using more than 2GB. Millions. Even if you don't use more than 2 GB, you like to know that you have unlimited **just in case**

I am an ATT rep. NO! The new ATT share plans will not allow grandfathered unlimited data to exist on the share plan. Please folks be clear that we are no different than Verizon in that respect.

Who the hell thinks AT&T is going to allow consumers to share one unlimited data plan? That would be insane. I clearly understood from the article that AT&T customers will have the option of keeping their EXISTING price plans AND the unlimited data feature and more importantly be allowed to upgrade on said plans WITHOUT paying full retail price (as I will have to as a VZW customer).

It doesn't matter if you pay full retail or not, if you change your device at all, for anything other than an insurance or warranty exchange, you lose unlimited data with Verizon.

T Bone you are incorrect. With Verizon you only loose your unlimited data if you get a discounted device with an upgrade. If you purchase at retail price or buy a used device you will not loose the unlimited. Everyone should read the article thoroughly before posting

You mean if I were foolish enough to allow an overzealous rep to touch my account they would remove my unlimited data feature.

With Verizon the system it wont take off the Unlimited data if you are not useing your UPGRADE. So as long as it is put into system correctly as device only change and not upgrade you will keep unlimited data

Uh-huh. Unfortunately I have three lines which all do. I wonder how much I'll have to fork out for an LTE iphone when it launches? I'm saving fifty dollars a week to build up my war chest.

I just purchased the Galaxy S III from Verizon for full retail price. I do NOT lose my unlimited data, it is still on my account. The only way you will is if you upgrade from them at a discounted pricing. If you buy the device full price, off eBay or anywhere other then Verizon your contract will stay the same. I don't plan on ever purchasing a device from Verizon at a discount because my bill would almost double compared to what I pay now.
