Look VZW. AT&T got it RIGHT!
AT&T figured out shared data plans aren't for everyone and it doesn't cost anymore to keep existing plans. Thank you AT&T. You'll have a new long time customer soon!

Yeah, even though I preferred the top 5% throttling to their current model (worked out better for me), at least AT&T isn't gonna stiff me when and if I upgrade my phone. Good going, AT&T.

That practice was causing people to be throttled under the data tier. Long story short, unlimited data users were getting throttled before they even hit 2 GB for winding up in the top 5%.
AT&T switched it so that on 4G LTE phones, you get throttled after 5 GB, and on all other smartphones you get throttled after 3 GB.

Well if one is an existing customer with an unlimited data plan then clearly AT&T trumps Verizon. As AT&T will allow existing customers to upgrade with a discount and keep their unlimited data plan and Verizon will not. What advantage would it be for an existing Verizon customer to switch to AT&T? I can't see any. These shared data plans are going to turn out to be churn busters for the Big 2.

AT&T gives you a choice between the new shared data plans and the existing plans.
"Customers can select one of the new shared data plans or choose one of AT&T’s existing individual or family plans." Verizon wireless automatically sticks you on thier Shared Everything plan when an existing customer ADDS a NEW individual line. I've tried several times to add a smartphone to my account with 450 minutes and 2gb data ($70 total) and the system won't allow it. It wants $100 instead. P.S. Don't need unlimited talk or text.

to be fair, youre wrong. you can still add phones to a verizon plan as a 9.99 add a line if you still have the old plans, and you can still upgrade in to the old plan if you want to, you just dont keep the unlimited data anymore(which for 95% of people doesnt matter). go stop in a store and try it.

"These shared data plans are going to turn out to be churn busters for the Big 2."
Why? If you are happy with your current plan you aren't being forced into a shared plan....you are simply being given another option...
Having additional options is GOOD if you ask me.

Busting churn is a good thing. As an existing customer with unlimited data is going to be holding on to it for dear life. I know I am. Because when it's gone...it's gone for good.
