Anything with 128mb wasn't great with a lot of apps. Even though the OS ran on very little, it wasn't enough causing you to have to do battery pulls all the time. The curves were coming with less back then too 
The other problem they had was that most people didn't close out of apps correctly leaving them open and clogging the memory. So you had a device that could multitask before most could (Apple didn't allow it for a long time) but lacked the memory to do it well.
In 8 months with a Torch 9850 and 20 plus apps, I have had to do maybe 4 battery pulls.
