Only a year? Usually they are accused of being 5 years behind, being only one year behind sounds like an improvement....

Getting better how? Can you install more than ten apps without out them hogging the phone's memory? They have yet to increase the storage enough for app use, in my opinion. The average memory is 512mb and that is also expected to store and run the OS, along with any other data, too. Five years sounds about right.

The onboard gig or two is pointless, when you can't store apps there. Its been two years since I owned a BB and far as I can tell, not much has improved.

I have more than 30 apps on my Blackberry Torch 9800 and still have more than half my memory left..and have never had any issue with memory....and the newer Blackberries have 8 GB of storage....not counting the SD mini card...

512mb. Isn't that what the iPhone has?
With 768mb on mine and an OS that hardly takes any room and options to compress it anyway. There is no problem loading these phones up.
There were problems loading lots of apps onto Blackberries a couple of years ago, not now at least on the newer Bolds and Torches.

That maybe, but I was referring to that same 512mb being used for everything. Now, I will be the first to say, I dont know how the BB are in terms of that. I lost interest after owning the original Bold. It had 128mb of memory to run everything and it seemed to run out of memory and caused my phone to freeze up, requiring a battery pull at least once a day. That's with only a couple of apps and I actually timed the boot time. It took close to two minutes to boot up and drained the battery by quarter power. That was enough for me to kick them to the curb.

Anything with 128mb wasn't great with a lot of apps. Even though the OS ran on very little, it wasn't enough causing you to have to do battery pulls all the time. The curves were coming with less back then too Shocked
The other problem they had was that most people didn't close out of apps correctly leaving them open and clogging the memory. So you had a device that could multitask before most could (Apple didn't allow it for a long time) but lacked the memory to do it well.
In 8 months with a Torch 9850 and 20 plus apps, I have had to do maybe 4 battery pulls.
