Lets pay more bureaucrats to sit around and talk, but not actuially do anything.

Actually, I want to retain some optimism. The cost of these lawsuits will consequently trickle down to us consumers. No company is going to go through all these suits without recovering the costs some how. Guess who pays into the percentage of the recovering process? I know I'm not jumping at the chance.

I feel Congress is getting its share of complaints from carriers and consumers alike. The Mobile sector of wireless, has quadrupled almost overnight. The Patent system has lost all control of its own rules and regulations. They are completely overloaded and have no clue what should be or shouldn't be patented I'm not supporting patent infringements of Intellectual Property. But, I am supporting a strong investigation of and significant ...

Unless it is going to be part of a general patent reform law I don't want Congress to intervene, without general patent reform simply passing a law saying 'you can't ban your competitor's products' will only make things worse.

I appreciate your optimism John, and wish I could share it. The patent system is long (LONG) overdue for an overhaul. And not just those dealing with mobile patents, the whole thing needs to be reworked to be functional again. For instance actually requiring demonstrable model or mock-up of how the patent idea actually works, and what makes it unique, rather than just a crude drawing and slapping down the money for it.

If they can manage that, it'll probably be the biggest, most important (or at least most useful to the general public) thing this congress has ever actually achieved (though that's not saying much).
